Location of FOSSConf08

in

Madras Institute of Technology,
Anna University,
Chromepet,
Chennai (Madras)-600 044
India.

Directions for Visitors

By Suburban Train:
The M I T Campus of Anna University is directly adjacent to the Chromepet railway station on the Beach - Tambaram suburban rail line; crossing over the railway foot Overbridge at the station takes you into the campus through the backgate (Hostel-gate). Ask before boarding.

From the Airport:
You can also take an auto (3-wheeler) or a taxi from the airport to Chromepet (4 km; Rs.75 by auto, Rs.125 by taxi; drivers are likely to rip you off for more). Go past the Chromepet Railway Station which will come to your left, and climb on to a flyover and cross it to the left side. As you touch down from the fly over, go forward another 50 meters or so and then take a U-turn to the right. Come straight down and cross to the right under the fly over and you would be almost at the MIT Gate which will come on your left side.

From Madras Central and Egmore:
From Madras Central, you have to walk across (about 500m) to Park station. This involves crossing a busy road, and newcomers may consider taking an auto (3-wheeler) to Park station (10-15 Rs.) Board the Tambaram-bound suburban train at Park; get off at Chromepet (about 25 Kms away).

As the suburban train stops at Madras Egmore, you just have to take it (Tambaram-bound direction) to Chromepet.

By Car:
Chromepet is on the Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road, 4 kms south of the Airport, and the campus is on the other side of the train tracks from the road (to your left if you are coming from the city).

By Bus:
There are frequent buses to Chromepet (which is en route to Tambaram) from Guindy, Saidapet and other stops on Mount Road (Anna Salai). Most of these buses originate from the bus terminus at Parry's Corner. There are also buses from Ashok Pillar and other points further to the north.
